Yankees prospect Yoendrys Gomez hits 97 on radar gan

Yoendrys Gomez got here on to pitch the final inning of the Yankees’ 15-Zero eight-inning loss to the Phillies in Clearwater, Fla., and in his scoreless outing confirmed why he’s thought-about by Baseball America because the group’s eighth-overall prospect. The 21-year-old right-hander spent 2019 at Single-A Charleston and was placed on the 40-man roster this offseason. He hit 97 mph on the gun Thursday.

Extra prospect watch

Albert Abreu allowed 4 runs in simply two-thirds of an inning within the Phillies’ nine-run fourth. The 25-year-old nonetheless has a minor league possibility remaining.

Caught my eye

The Yankees gave up six homers within the loss: two every by Deivi Garcia and Nestor Cortes, one by Abreu and one other by Reggie McClain.
